About Jessica Peters
Hi, my name is Jessica. I am so very excited to begin teaching Yoga at Lion’s Gate and Wellness Center! I have been practicing Hatha Yoga for 14 years and recently felt the calling to teach. I have been studying Raja Yoga in depth this past year and completed my 200-hour yoga training at Frog Pond Yoga Center in Princeton Massachusetts and will be continuing there for my 300-hour. I share my home with my wonderful partner, 5 of our 8 kids, two rats, a 30-year-old snake and sweet goofy puppy Sage. My life is busy! Whenever I have free time, you will usually find me out in nature. I love hiking, rock-climbing, cross-country skiing, ice climbing, and paddle boarding. Nature heals me and is where I go to find peace within. We all have a different calling and one of my biggest purposes in life is to help others live a healthier lifestyle. I have learned that everyone has different needs to get there. What I love most about Yoga is that its more about a person going within to see what is best for them which is why I chose to teach this path. It’s not competitive, negative, or just learning how to bend into a pretzel. Although learning how to bend into a pretzel can be a great path if that’s what the person wishes to accomplish! What I love about teaching yoga is seeing my students grow in their own unique way. It’s all about learning that you have to go within or you go without. We are trained to live our lives on the outside which can cause us to forget who we are sometimes. By taking the time to check in and see how we react to the outside world is essential. It is then we can learn how to manage stress and get through our negative thoughts in our daily lives. To hear what my current students have said has been very rewarding. The positive lifestyle changes they have made in practicing yoga, both physical and mental benefits alone is just wonderful. This yoga journey has truly given me the tools to help live in the moment and that is what I wish to show others in my teachings.
